#Capesummit at the Web Summit Dublin 2013 – An Explanation and the Pictures!

Firstly, though she doesn’t feature as a solo cape character anywhere (yet), this post is dedicated to the wonderful Eilis Boyle who was the reason i got to go to the Web Summit and thus the reason you all got capes :) On the tuesday evening before the summit, i was at home drinking soup and watching everything summity starting to kick off on Twitter. I noticed the ‘liveteam’ hashtag, which was a group selected…

Family Gatherings – A Polite Opportunity for Chaos

Extended family gatherings are different for all families I’m sure but mine are incredibly polite.¬†This year I saw the politeness lead to a whole new level of bizarre courtesy of my genius mum.¬† Mum suggested, for her own entertainment I’m sure, that we have an Easter bonnet competition. Thanks to everyone’s good manners – no one rejected this ridiculous suggestion. And thank Zombie Jesus they didn’t because it was the second most fun part of…

Jezzebelle at Brown Bread Mix Tape, Stags Head Dublin

The brown bread mix tape is held once a month in the stags head. Went for the first time last night. It certainly wasn’t lying about that it was mixed. Evening may include everything from comedy sketches to weird madness interspersed with a raffle. Irish band Jezzebelle were my favourite of the night. There is a tiny vine clip here but look them up or see them live if you can. Fiver entry and you…

The first is the…

Things to Do in Dublin Tonight 8 May 2012

There is something very lovely and interesting going on in Dublin tonight. The MGM or monthly general meeting, curated by Nial Conlon and Shane Langan, has been running for a few months. I’ve been to them all i think and each time it’s such a unique experience that i can’t miss the next one. The thing about it that doesn’t change (so far anyways) is the atmosphere. It feels like home though i can’t…

Dublin Dance Festival – It’s actually going to be awesome

Contemporary Dance can come across as pretentious and annoying. Much like most art :) But Dublin Dance Festival is making such an excellent effort to change this perception. Yay. They’ve made it look fun and inviting. And i want to go see stuff. And i am prone to thinking that contemporary dance is just people repeatedly wriggling in some muted coloured leggings and a top. Sigh. So this is big. The promo makes me happy…

Best Places To Eat in Dublin – La Dolce Vita

The Queen of Tarts in Dublin, which has two locations, has become famous for their good food, amazing cakes, beautiful atmosphere and sweet atmosphere. But next door the the Cow’s Lane Queen of Tarts is an inconspicuous looking restaurant called La Dolce Vita. There is nothing striking about it’s exterior next to the bright red busy-ness of Queen of Tarts, but as soon as you walk in the door it smells like great Italian cheese…
