The Best Lunch Deal in Dublin…So Far

By far the best lunch deal I’ve found in Dublin so far is at Soup Dragon on Capel Street. For €3 you get a really great soup and get to choose from a wide variety and lovely tasty breads and a piece of fruit of your choice. Save it for your three o clock snack or for your morning elevenses the following day! Either way it will all keep you happy, healthy and full. Their…

Family Gatherings – A Polite Opportunity for Chaos

Extended family gatherings are different for all families I’m sure but mine are incredibly polite. This year I saw the politeness lead to a whole new level of bizarre courtesy of my genius mum.  Mum suggested, for her own entertainment I’m sure, that we have an Easter bonnet competition. Thanks to everyone’s good manners – no one rejected this ridiculous suggestion. And thank Zombie Jesus they didn’t because it was the second most fun part of…

Cheap Lunches Dublin – Brother Hubbard

Brother Hubbard is a lovely wee spot. Their coffee is the bizness and the place looks amazing thanks to Dublin Design duo Design Goat. It’s a bit over my measly food budget to be eating lunch their normally but take away soup with really lovely breads is 4.50. Decent. And the soup is tasty as fuck. Looking forward to trying their juices too. They’re on capel street in the city centre and go with plenty…

Jezzebelle at Brown Bread Mix Tape, Stags Head Dublin

The brown bread mix tape is held once a month in the stags head. Went for the first time last night. It certainly wasn’t lying about that it was mixed. Evening may include everything from comedy sketches to weird madness interspersed with a raffle. Irish band Jezzebelle were my favourite of the night. There is a tiny vine clip here but look them up or see them live if you can. Fiver entry and you…

Dublin Coffee Culture – The Fumbally and Tamp & Stitch

Dublin coffee culture is changing. I’m an avid coffee lover and although i don’t know everything about it i know what i like and spent a bit of time in Australia working as a barista. I have two new favourite places for coffee in dublin. And i think they’re getting busier all the time so they probably don’t need me writing about them, but just in case you haven’t been yet. The first is the…

Things to Do in Dublin Tonight 8 May 2012

There is something very lovely and interesting going on in Dublin tonight. The MGM or monthly general meeting, curated by Nial Conlon and Shane Langan, has been running for a few months. I’ve been to them all i think and each time it’s such a unique experience that i can’t miss the next one. The thing about it that doesn’t change (so far anyways) is the atmosphere. It feels like home though i can’t…

Things To Do in Ireland: Day Trip to Kilkenny

Kilkenny is one of Ireland’s oldest cities and thus settled comfortable home to culture, history and a great arts scene. It is definitely more a crafts arts scene than a contemporary arts scene but it has it’s moments for that too, especially at the Kikenny Arts Festival which runs every August and is well worth checking out. (Bring / borrow / rent a car if you’re going to this as there’s usually stuff all over…
